Thematic leaves and time credit

Sometimes you need extra time to care for your family, support someone, or find balance between work and private life.
For this, there are several legal leave options.

  • Parental leave

    – Max. 4 months per child (until age 12)
    – Can be taken full-time, half-time or 1/5
    – Requirement: at least 12 months employment

  • Medical assistance leave

    – For care of a seriously ill family member
    – Max. 12 months per person cared for
    – Can be full-time, half-time or 1/5

  • Palliative leave

    – For assisting a terminally ill person
    – Initially 1 month, extendable 1–2 times

  • Time credit

    – For personal projects or family time
    – Various motives and durations (child < 8, palliative care, training, etc.)
    – Specific conditions depending on type and sector

Allowance

You receive a replacement income via RVA. Fixed amount depending on:

– Family situation (single, dependent children…)
– Working time (full/part-time)
– Type of break (full-time, half-time, 1/5)

What should you do?


  1. Submit your request in writing to HR with:
    – Desired type of leave
    – Start and end dates
  2. HR discusses with your supervisor and forwards the request to RVA
  3. You receive an email from RVA and complete your part via Break@work

Note

Apply on time (preferably at least 2 months in advance)
Depending on the situation, HR may ask to adapt your request if service continuity is at risk
